CONTENT

The exhibition 'The Hanover Suite' focuses on one single building: The Dutch Pavilion at the World’s Fair of Hanover in 2000. This building by MVRDV architects presented a layered building that displayed the difference in Dutch landscape over 6 floors. It was the highlight of the fair and a major example of ecological architecture. This temporary pavilion was still standing on its location in 2013 in an increasing state of dilapidation. 'The Hanover Suite' presents a series of 10 photographs made between 2008 and 2012.

PROJECT

In THE FUTURE OF YESTERDAY the Belgian artist Ives Maes searched the globe looking for evidence of World’s Fairs. He photographed the architectural remnants of these short-lived events and the sites on which they were built, often revealing an ironic contrast between the grand utopian views of times past and the urban reality of today. His eerie photographs are afterimages, lingering vestiges of now fading dreams.
